Avoid unnecessary touching, scratching or picking of the new tattoo site to reduce the risk of introducing infection.
Always wash and dry your hands before and after touching a new tattoo
Keep the cling film on until you get home or to a hygienic area to clean it. After removing the dressing, gently wash the tattoo site with warm tap water
and un-fragranced anti-bacterial hand wash, avoid products that are strong or too fragranced e.g. Lynx.
Do not pat dry with towels / kitchen roll. Leave to dry to the air for a few moments until dry.
Apply your chose aftercare thinly with clean hands. You can use PALMER’S COCOA BUTTER, COCONUT OIL or TATTOO GOO.
Aftercare should be applied morning and evening and during the day only if your tattoo is dry or itchy. Application can last up to about 3 weeks.
Do not use skin products on the treated area that have not been recommended e.g. Bepanthen, Savlon, Vasoline.
Do not soak your tattoo until all scabs have fallen off and is healed completely. If the tattoo is in an area that will be effected by a bath then shower instead.
After approximately two weeks, any scabbing should have gone and been replaced with new, intact skin. The area should be completely healed in a further 10 – 14 days.
Avoid swimming, sun beds and sun bathing until your new tattoo is fully healed, as direct sunlight / chlorine can interact with tattoo dye pigments causing skin irritation and inflammation. It usually takes 3 – 4 weeks for a tattoo to fully heal.
Try to wear loose, cotton clothing to minimise rubbing and irritation to a new tattoo site.
